Good evening,
Today has definitely been a hot one! ☀️
Officers have been out and about to all our local schools this week engaging with the younger generations. Here is a breakdown on why school visits are a crucial part of our roles as Police Community Support Officers:
- Building Early Trust: Meeting kids in a safe classroom demystifies the uniform and teaches them that the police are safe figures to turn to in a crisis.
- Preventing Crime Early: Sessions on online safety, bullying, and anti-social behaviour steer young people away from bad choices before they happen.
- Crucial Safeguarding: These visits allow us to spot vulnerable youngsters and give children a safe space to disclose worries or report local concerns.
- The Ripple Effect: When kids take positive safety messages home, it opens doors and builds stronger bonds with parents and the wider community.
Investing time in our schools today builds a safer, more supportive community for everyone tomorrow. This week, officers delivered a pedestrian safety input as part of our Mini Police Programme at Beaufort Primary School, and delivered an input on knife crime awareness at Derwent Primary School. Officers also conducted the same input at Derwent Primary School, but for staff members. This gave us an opportunity to share with staff what they can do if they ever have any concerns on pupils potentially finding themselves involved in the wrong crowd.
