Burglary prevention advice - hot weather

Hi everyone,

With the warmer weather, we understand many residents will be keeping windows and doors open to stay cool. However, this can unfortunately create opportunities for opportunistic burglars.

Please take a few simple steps to help keep your home secure:

Ensure doors and windows are closed and locked when leaving your property, even for a short time

Avoid leaving ground floor or easily accessible windows open, especially overnight

If you need ventilation, consider using window restrictors where possible

Keep valuables out of sight, particularly near windows and doors

Secure rear doors, side gates, and sheds as these are often targeted

Make use of doorbell cameras or CCTV to monitor your property

A small lapse, such as leaving a window open, can be all it takes for a burglar to gain entry. Staying vigilant and taking these precautions can make a significant difference.

If you notice any suspicious activity, please report it via 101, or 999 in an emergency.
