Eccleshall – Off-Road Bikes / E-Bikes - Information Appeal

We have received two reports over the weekend of off-road motorbikes and e-bikes being ridden in an unsafe and anti-social manner in Eccleshall.

📅 Friday 20th June (1645–1710hrs)
📍 Overton Close, Gaol Butts & Newport Road

A white off-road motorbike displaying the number “33” was seen being ridden at speed across the area.

The rider was described as wearing:

Grey overalls

Green wellington boots

Black helmet and black goggles

The bike had no registration plate and was ridden with no regard for other road users.

📅 Sunday 21st June (approx. 1145hrs)
📍 Stone Road, Stafford Street & High Street

Two males were seen riding an HIMIWAY e-bike on pavements through the town centre: photo of the bike shown below

Both wearing helmets covering their faces

Riding through pedestrian areas with no regard for safety

Became confrontational when challenged

A reminder to everyone:

Riding off-road bikes or illegal e-bikes on roads, pavements, parks or open spaces is against the law.

If you are caught riding an unlicensed, untaxed or uninsured motorbike, you risk:

Court action
Fines and points
Disqualification
Your bike being seized and destroyed

Riding a pedal cycle on the pavement can result in a fine. If done in a way that puts others at risk, it may be dealt with as anti-social behaviour.

Where vehicles (including some e-bikes) are used in a manner causing alarm, distress or annoyance, a Section 59 warning may be issued, and vehicles can be seized if behaviour continues.
