Hertfordshire Constabulary is encouraging serving military personnel, veterans, and reservists across the county to register with the Forcer Protocol this Armed Forces Week (22-27 June 2026). The protocol is hosted on Safe and Found Online, a secure digital platform that allows individuals or their loved ones to record important information that can be accessed by police only in the event they are reported missing. By signing up to Safe and Found Online, users can upload vital information such as photographs, medical details, known locations and emergency contacts. This ensures that, should a missing person report be made, officers have immediate access to accurate and up-to-date information, enabling searches to begin more quickly and effectively. The Forcer Protocol has been developed to support the Armed Forces community, recognising the unique experiences and challenges that can be associated with military service. While many members of the Armed Forces community adjust well to life during and after service, some may face challenges including post-traumatic stress, depression or anxiety and isolation or difficulties transitioning to civilian life. These factors can increase vulnerability during periods of crisis. Early access to relevant information can make a difference in ensuring a safe and timely outcome when someone goes missing or there is a concern for their welfare. Detective Chief Inspector James Howarth said: “The Forcer Protocol is about ensuring that support continues beyond service by helping us respond quickly and effectively if someone is reported missing. “By registering on Safe and Found Online, individuals and families are providing us with vital information that could save valuable time and help us bring someone home safely. I would strongly encourage members of the Armed Forces community in Hertfordshire to consider signing up.” Registration is free and secure, please visit: www.safeandfoundonline.co.uk All information is stored safely and is only accessed by police when necessary. If you or someone you know in the Armed Forces community is struggling, support is available. Please visit the Hertfordshire Heroes website which highlights a range of support services. | ||
