Weekly update from the South Yardley Neighbourhood policing team. |

|
Dear Members, Here’s a quick round up from the South Yardley neighbourhood policing team. This week has been busy for the team as we have actively conducted operations in the area to assist in tackling vehicle crime. Its is important for me to note again, neighbourhood are still be used to support Response with incidents incoming. This can vary by day, and we are currently supplying 2 officers, this will reduce in our patrols in the area as a result. With that being said… Monday 15th we organised a local all-out day around Manor Farm Rd, Roma Rd, Morcom Rd, River Lee Rd and Cowley. We conducted this alongside key partners; Trading Standards, Environmental Heath, HMRC, Modern Day Slavery, Fair Working, Immigration, WMP Exploitation Team, Birmingham City Parking Enforcement, DVLA, Birmingham City Community Safety Partnerships, Street Intervention. This resulted in multiple referrals for individuals to obtain support and safeguarding was put in place.1 arrest for Immigration offences, 26 vehicles seized by WMP and DVLA and 3 parking tickets issued. Those that have been served a CPW will now be escalated to a CPN in the coming days due to breaches by 3 businesses. We will continue this piece of work with partner agencies and ensuring the community is supported. More work will be continued behind the scenes with partners following up on their own actions from this day alone. In addition, we will soon have a street watch to assist us further. Tuesday 16th we had the Swan Shopping Centres Business Watch and a few of the stores have their packs for the sharing agreement. This will now help tackle prolific offenders harming the businesses to be deterred before entering the site. Followed by our investigations being updated quickly with identification. We know some stores have raised some concerns around their investigations and this has been fed back to the Inspector to be aware of the issues they are facing and the impact this has on them and staffing. We also conducted our Empowered Steps in Oaklands Park, followed by us meeting the Chief Constable in Stechford discussing all Neighbourhood issues we are facing and actions we are taking support the community. Wednesday 17th we conducted our Empowered Steps walk in Small Heath and it was good to have more turn out and we are hoping more can come along as time goes on. Additionally, we attended a housing meeting to discuss any issues or concerns in the area with our plans, actions going forward. Thursday 18th we were able to set up a Traffic operation with a specialised unit on Stockfield Road. We were able to seize 3 vehicles for no insurance, followed up 5 individuals given tickets for no insurance, driving in accordance with their licence, tints and Seat belts. This was a good result for the team, and we will be conducting more of these in the future. If you have a particular area, let us know and we look at doing a similar one near you!
