Weekly round-up from your local Neighbourhood Team |
||
|
Hello everyone,
As part of Neighbourhood Policing Week, your local St. Michael's Team has been doing some vital work within Coventry City Centre. Our officers have been working closely with the residents, partner agencies, and community groups.
Here are some highlights from this week.
As one of the main areas, focused patrols and weapon sweeps of Lady Herbert's Garden were carried out. This allowed us to target the anti-social behaviour within the location and ensure that the members of the public are safe to enjoy the sunny weather. These efforts were supported by the Community Warden from the Coventry City Council as part of our working in partnerships.
Throughout the week, officers could be seen within the Broadgate, Lower and Upper Precinct areas, working alongside the Coventry BID and Street Patrol, carrying out high-visibility patrols and community engagements. We have targeted our efforts on supporting the business within these locations, offering safeguarding and incident reporting advice, and offering reassurance.
Officers were in attendance at community events that took place over the weekend, such as the Free Family Day Event at the Belgrade Theatre, United by Love 2026 festival at the Coventry University, and Coventry's Windrush Festival. Officers provided a visible presence and engaged with the security staff and the public at the events to ensure the safety of those attending.
We would also like to highlight the good work our officers have done this week in relation to the issues of shoplifting.
Thanks to the efforts of PC LLOYD, a prolific shoplifter within Coventry City Centre has received an 8-week custodial sentence for a number of offences. She has also been able to secure a Criminal Behaviour Order, which will help us prevent further offending, and protect local businesses.
Another individual has been arrested and charged with theft offences, and issued with a Civil Intervention, demonstrating our efforts to address retail crime.

π¨ Crime & Safety Updates β What You Need to Know π¨ Itβs time to get summer-ready and secure your home, vehicles, and valuables β double checking your windows and doors are locked is key. Never leave your car unattended, running with the AC on, and valuables on show. Over the summer, you will see more officers out in our towns and cities, but there are also ways you can help keep your community safe. Your CCTV helps us solve real crimes. We are urging local businesses, residents, and community groups to sign up to our CCTV registry online: CCTV Registry | West Midlands Police. It only takes five minutes and can help us bring more opportunistic burglars and thieves to justice.
You can report suspicious activity around vehicles and homes, online via Live Chat, through 101, and anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
