Honiton neighbourhood policing team have recently received reports of E-scooters and Electric bikes being ridden around Honiton.
Please read the below information regarding E-scooters, E-bikes and Electric powered cycles.
You (aged 14 or over) can ride an e-bike without a licence or insurance on cycle paths and roads (NEVER pavements), ONLY IF it: Has pedals you can use to propel it The motor power output is no more than 250 watts and doesn’t deliver electrical assistance after 15.5 mph Full e-bike rules here 👉 www.gov.uk/electric-bike-rules
The rules on riding e-bikes, and the difference between an e-bike and an electric motorcycle for which you need a license, helmet and insurance, are clearly laid out here 👉www.gov.uk/electric-bike-rules Ride one illegally and you could risk a fixed penalty notice and your bike being seized and destroyed.
Nobody is allowed to ride an e-scooter on publicly accessible land. Not on roads, pavements, cycle lanes, bridleways, parks, car parks. If you see someone riding an e-bike or e-scooter carelessly or causing immediate danger call 999. If you see someone riding an e-scooter on publicly accessible land, call 101 or report it online. The rider could face a fixed penalty notice and have their e-scooter or e-bike seized and destroyed. | ||
