SADDLEWORTH & LEES NEIGHBOURHOOD WEEK OF ACTION ROUND UP |
||
|
Dear Resident.
This week, the Saddleworth Neighbourhood Team and I have been fully engaged in a wide range of proactive policing activities as part of our Neighbourhood Week of Action. Our focus has been on visibility, prevention, enforcement, and partnership working to keep Saddleworth & Lees safe.
Over the course of the week, the team has delivered several targeted operations, including:
Retail Crime Operation. We visited local businesses across Saddleworth and Lees, offering crime‑prevention advice and taking positive action against offenders who target our shops and retail premises. Supporting our business community remains a key priority.
Speed Enforcement Across Our Roads We carried out speed checks in hotspot locations to reduce the number of speeding vehicles travelling through our villages and rural roads. Positive action will always be taken against those who believe it is acceptable to speed or commit other road‑traffic offences in our communities.
Joint Police & Immigration Operation Working alongside Immigration Enforcement, we targeted individuals working illegally or in breach of their immigration status, as well as identifying potential victims of modern slavery. Safeguarding remains at the heart of this work.
Dovestones Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) Operation Officers were deployed around Dovestones and the surrounding PSPO‑protected areas to educate visitors, encourage responsible behaviour, and take action against those choosing to flout the order. Where necessary, prosecutions will follow.
Night‑Time Economy Patrols We increased high‑visibility patrols across Saddleworth & Lees during the evenings to ensure everyone visiting our pubs, restaurants, and venues can do so safely. We remain committed to tackling drug‑related offences and drink/drug driving.
I want to take this opportunity to say how incredibly proud I am of my team. Their professionalism, dedication, and commitment to serving the residents of Saddleworth & Lees is evident every single day. They work tirelessly to identify hotspot areas, prevent crime, and take appropriate action within their policing powers.
Where issues fall outside criminality, we continue to work closely with our partners at the local authority, particularly the Community Safety Team, with whom we have a strong and effective working relationship.
I want to say a big thank you to you, our community we are extremely grateful for the ongoing support, information, and reports we receive from residents. Your engagement is vital. Without your eyes, ears, and willingness to report concerns, we would not be able to respond to local issues as effectively as we do.
Please continue to report matters that affect you or your community through the usual channels: 101 – Non‑emergency Online reporting – GMP website 999 – Emergency only
Together, we will continue to keep Saddleworth & Lees a safe and welcoming place for all.
Regards
PS Andy Holian Saddleworth & Lees Neighbourhood Sergeant.
