I wanted to provide you with an update regarding burglary, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. We had three burglary-related incidents that have taken place locally over recent days. Enquiries are ongoing, and we would like to make residents aware and provide crime prevention advice.
📍 Purley Oaks Road, South Croydon (Crime Ref: 01/7697702/26) Date/Time: Tuesday 16 June 2026, approx. 11:00–16:20 Suspects gained entry to the property via the rear patio door, which had a glass panel smashed using an unknown object. An untidy search of the address was carried out; however, the victim reported that no items appear to have been stolen at this time, with valuable jewellery left untouched.
📍 Purley Oaks Road, South Croydon (Crime Ref: 01/7698738/26) Date/Time: Tuesday 16 June 2026, approx. 07:30–18:20 Entry is believed to have been gained via the side gate leading to the rear garden, where the rear patio door was smashed to access the property. The address was searched, with rooms left in disarray. Items stolen include A laptop, A quantity of jewellery and Foreign currency Total loss is estimated at approximately £4,000. CCTV covering the rear of the property was checked, however no suspects were seen.
📍 Riddlesdown Road, Purley (Crime Ref: 01/7698087/26) Date/Time: Between Friday 12 June and Sunday 14 June 2026 This incident differs slightly, involving access linked to a pre-arranged property viewing. The occupant later discovered that a rear door key had been removed and subsequently reported missing items including a MacBook and an iPad.
 While we will continue to pursue burglars in the area, there are steps you can do to help keep your property safe. Make sure that you: Double lock your door every time you leave the house If you can, move garden furniture or bins away from windows so that thieves cannot use them to gain access. Use laminated glass or security film on ground floor and accessible windows. Use a sash stop if you have sash windows to prevent people opening them enough to climb through. If your windows open outwards, use a key operated lock – check these are locked before leaving the house. Make sure all valuables are out of sight. Keep handbags and keys away from letterboxes or cat flaps. In the evening shut the curtains and leave lights on. Set your burglar alarm Lock your shed or garage Mark, register or record your valuables.
