Bikes property marked, and unlawful cycles seized |
||
|
Earlier this week I mentioned that as part of Neighbourhood Policing Week we would be doing an operation to target people riding unlawful bicycles. Police Officers from across the Safer Neighbourhoods Teams in Battersea came together today to carry out an operation that we call ‘Cubo’. Two “stop sites” were set up on roads that we know are used frequently by people riding electric bicycles and mopeds to do deliveries. In total sixty-seven mopeds/motorcyles were stopped and a few more bicycles as well. Two mopeds were seized because the riders didn't have valid driving licences. An electric bicycle with an unlawful acceleration system and an electric scooter were also seized and taken to the Police car pound. A photo of all of them being loaded onto the truck is below. The 15-year old boy who had been riding the electric scooter was found to be in possession of a knife that was so large it was virtually a sword. He was arrested and remains in custody as I am writing this. And, at the same time as all that was going on, PCSO Paul Odunsi lead a crime prevention event at Battersea Power Station where twelve members of the public had their bicycles property marked and registered with Bike Register, the national cycle database. https://www.bikeregister.com/
