Monthly community update from Ceredigion Roads Policing Sgt Dave Hawksworth - June 2026
Hello everyone
I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to share a quick round up of the work that your local Roads Policing Unit have been doing in your area, what's coming up and how we are working with partners to keep our roads safe for those living in, working in and visiting Ceredigion.
From what our communities have told us we have been focusing on:
In addition to the above we have also been conducting additional proactive road safety patrols and speed enforcement in: Talybont, Penrhyncoch, Llanbadarn Fawr, Lampeter Area, Synnod Inn Area, Ffostrasol, Crymych, Cenarth and Llechryd. These additional patrols are in in response to concerns raised with us by your local councillors, community representatives and local residents.
To effectively tackle these issues we have been working with: These collaborations are helping us respond more effectively and holistically to community needs.
As a result we have: Provided Drone support for the policing of the recent Palestine Red Line Protest in Cardigan helping to ensure the safety of all involved in the event.
In addition to the above, advanced riders from our Police Motorcycle Team have been busy helping with the successful delivery of “Bike Safe” courses, helping riders of all experience levels to improve their riding skills and stay safe on the roads.
This coming month we will continue to target the issues affecting our communities by participating in the following Road Safety Campaigns:
NPCC 2Wheel Operation (which aims to improve the safety of vulnerable road users as well as targetting the illegal and anti-social use of E-bikes and E-Scooters).
Operation APEX (our ongoing Motorcycle Safety Campaign which aims to reduce the number of serious road traffic collisions involving motorcyclists).
Operation Spotlight (which targets the FATAL 5 driving offences - Drink & Drug Driving, Speeding, Mobile Phone Use & No Seatbelts)
Upcoming events
Members of our Motorcycle Team will be working alongside the British Cycling Police Escort Team later this month for the British Nantional Cycling Championships which will be returning to Ceredigion for the second year.
