Officers are appealing for information after GPS equipment worth tens of thousands of pounds was stolen from a farm. Thieves targeted Hainey Farm, in Barway Road, near Soham, between 7pm on 16 June and 6am on 17 June. About 22 GPS display screens were stolen from tractors and machinery parked at the farm. Overall, the cost of the GPS screens is thought to be in the tens of thousands of pounds, and the tractors and machinery were also damaged in the thefts. Officers are carrying out enquiries, including reviewing CCTV and liaising with national partners. Sergeant Tom Nuttall, from the force’s Rural Crime Action Team (RCAT), said: “This is a substantial theft that has had a significant financial impact on the victim’s business. These systems are vital for modern farming, and their loss can severely disrupt operations and the national food chain. “We believe this type of crime is often linked to organised groups who specifically target rural locations for high-value GPS equipment.” Police are appealing for anyone who was in the Barway Road area overnight, or who may have seen suspicious vehicles or activity, to come forward. Officers are also reminding farmers and rural businesses to review their security measures, including: Anyone with information is asked to contact Cambridgeshire Police via the website using reference 35/45112/26, or call 101. | ||
