Illegal bike seizure - Downham Market |
||
You said… we did. Last week we told you about some illegally modified bikes seized in Lynn and we had a few comments about a similar bike causing issues in Downham. We were given some specific details about when and where we might find the rider so we tracked him down and seized his bike. The rider (who was referred to as ‘The Stig’ in the comments) has now been reported for driving offences because he was essentially riding a motorbike without any of the safety systems or paperwork. The bike won’t be returned until valid insurance can be shown and that’s unlikely for an illegal item like this. Bikes like this are dangerous to both the rider and the wider public. We have no problems at all with legal and safe e-bikes and they have real benefits, but these illegally modified bikes can cause real issues and many of you tell us you are scared of what could happen when you see them being ridden around towns and on public footpaths. It's Neighbourhood Policing Week this week and this kind of policing is all about responding to the concerns you report to us. You can report non-emergency crime and ASB to us online www.norfolk.police.uk or via 101. Using the website is your quickest option and what you say will be looked at by the same people who answer the 101 calls | ||
