Summers Here - Keep safe on the beaches using the Water Safety Code

Dear Resident,

As the weather gets warmer and we start to use our 19 miles of coastline, remember that water safety is paramount and following a few basic steps can help support a calmer beach experience, especially those of us with young children!

Stop and Think

Take the time to assess your surroundings

Look for the dangers and check local signs for advice, if you're not sure what they mean, ask a lifeguard.

Stay Together

When around the water, always go with friends or family

Swim at a lifeguard Venue

Call 999

If you are at the Coast, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard

DO NOT Enter the water to rescue anyone

Float

If you fall in or get tired, stay calm, float on your back and call for help

Throw something that floats to somebody that has fallen in
