Crime Alert Herts/Cambs Rural Border |

Dear Resident
Please be aware there has been an increase in agricultural Global Positioning Systems (GPS) being stolen from farming vehicles in Cambridgeshire, whilst there is no suggestion or reports within Hertfordshire at this time we are asking all farm owners/workers to be vigilant and take the time to remove GPS Systems and screens when finishing work for the day to prevent any thefts.
GPS domes are a sophisticated piece of equipment, typically costing more than £10,000, used to guide tractors and combine harvesters.
Our Advice: Park tractors and other agricultural vehicles in secure, alarmed buildings in well-lit areas covered by CCTV. Activate PIN security on GPS systems, with your own unique number if available. If your system is not PIN enabled, mark your postcode to deter thieves and trace your property back to you. Keep tractors and combines with GPS stored out of sight when possible. Record serial numbers and photograph your systems. Check serial numbers of second-hand systems offered for sale. Utilise SelectaDNA to mark systems (contact us if you need it)
