Shoplifting has a real impact on our community. It costs local shops money, pushes up prices for customers, and can make staff feel unsafe. If theft continues, it can even put small businesses at risk of closing — and these are places many people rely on every day. I regularly check for reports of shoplifting in the area and patrol local shops to help prevent crime. When offences happen, I work to find those responsible and take action. Last week, while on patrol, I found a male who had been shoplifting in the area. He was arrested and later charged. To help reduce shoplifting, we encourage local businesses to consider simple crime‑prevention steps such as: Kent Police will continue working with businesses and residents to reduce theft and keep our high streets safe.
