***Selsdon Robbery*** |
||
|
On Wednesday 10th June 2026, while conducting routine patrols in the Selsdon area, officers were alerted to a knife point robbery that had occurred outside Sainsbury’s. Officers promptly attended the location to support Response Team colleagues already en route. Neighbourhood officers initiated a coordinated area search in and around the vicinity of the robbery. This included conducting multiple lawful stop and searches based on real-time intelligence and suspect descriptions. As part of the response, a police solo motorcycle was deployed to enhance mobility. This enabled officers to access side roads, alleyways, and cut-throughs that are not accessible to standard police vehicles. This tactical decision proved critical, as the suspects attempted to evade capture by fleeing through local wooded areas and alleyway networks. Due to the effective coordination between ground units and the solo officer, the suspects were located. The primary suspect was subsequently arrested on suspicion of the knife point robbery. Officers remain aware of an increase in reports involving groups of youths in the Selsdon area engaging in antisocial behaviour, including attempts to steal mobile phones and designer clothing. In response, patrols in the Selsdon area have been increased to deter further incidents and provide reassurance to the community.
