I wanted to provide an update regarding Mobile phone theft, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey. Community crime-fighting in Nine Elms WARD
Local community policing is a huge priority for us in the Met and the bedrock of how we police London. Over the last year we have seen the results of that, with strong reductions across the city in crimes like robbery, bike theft and burglary.
As your local Safer Neighbourhood Team, we thought it was a good opportunity to let you know the sorts of things your neighbourhood policing team will be up to this week:
• Street a week/Met Engage, Nine Elms Ward • Mobile Phones Thefts visibility Patrol • High visibility patrols tackling Mobile Phones Crime Nine Elms Safer Neighbourhood Team will be out patrolling the Ward regarding mobile thefts from members of the public. We want to stop those people going around on the bike snatching members of the public phone and also, we want to give relevant crime prevention advice to the members of the public whilst on our patrols. These are just some of the things we will be doing this week but those are examples of some of the work we do. Your neighbourhood team is embedded in your community and works around the clock to keep you safe. The range of issues we deal with is vast, from petty theft to complex offences and violence. Safer Neighbourhood Team operate alongside ‘response teams’, who are the officers who turn up in an emergency if you dial 999. Mobile Phone Thefts - our key priority is to deliver precise and collaborative community fighting through problem solving, we try to identify the origins of crime / the operative methods and work with groups like the local council, businesses and residents on creative ways to address them. Thank you for staying in touch with us on Met Engage. We are here to help you - if there are issues that you think need to be addressed, please let us know.
We are working on our brand-new strategy for how we police London and we want your help. Our New Met for London: Phase 2 strategy will guide how we deliver on behalf of Londoners over the next three years. |
