Begging concerns - Bridgnorth Safer Neighbourhood Team Update

Dear Resident

1) What we want the public to know
We have received reports of individuals appearing to beg in the Bridgnorth area. At present, there are NO individuals known to be sleeping rough within the town.

We want to reassure the community that genuine support is available for anyone in need. Working with our partners, there are established services to provide help with food, accommodation, and other essential needs.

Begging, including placing oneself in a position to appear as though you are begging, may constitute an offence. Where this behaviour is identified, officers will take appropriate action. This work forms part of our commitment to keeping public spaces safe and supporting vulnerable individuals, in line with our local Safer Neighbourhood priorities.

2) How we want the public to feel
We understand that seeing someone in apparent need can be concerning and that many people want to help. Please be reassured that support networks are in place locally, and we are working closely with partner agencies to ensure those who are genuinely vulnerable receive the appropriate help.

3) What we want the public to do
If you have concerns about someone you believe may be vulnerable, or if you are aware of ongoing begging activity, please report this to us so we can take the right action and offer support where needed.
