Local Priorities Catapults Message

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Catapults, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

On 10/06/26, the Local Policing Team Sergeant has attempted to stop a male riding a moped in the Kennington, Ashford area. The rider, a 16 year old male from High Halden, failed to stop when directed and continued to ride dangerously on footpaths and through local parks in a bid to evade being caught. The Officer has later confronted the rider on a footbridge at taser point, where he was then arrested for a number of offences, including dangerous driving and failing to stop for Police.

During searches of the moped, two catapults were located and seized for destruction, as well as a small amount of Cannabis.

The rider has since been released from custody and remains on Police Bail whilst enquiries continue.
