🚔 Riverside Beat Team – Weekly Update It’s been a busy and productive week for the Riverside Beat Team, with officers working across the city to keep our communities safe. Some highlights have been shared below: ________________________________________ 🌙 Night-Time Economy Patrols PCs Callum Merryn and Fabian have supported the night time economy operation last night and will be doing so again tonight, helping to ensure people can enjoy a safe night out. ________________________________________ 🎶 Download Festival Policing PC Fabian, PCSO V, and other officers have been deployed at Download Festival at Donington Park, one of the UK’s largest music events. Our team provided reassurance and maintained a visible presence to ensure everyone could enjoy the festival safely. ________________________________________ 🚨 Arrest & Proactive Policing PCs Merryn, Jess, and Callum worked collaboratively to locate and arrest an individual wanted in connection with a burglary offence. During the arrest, a large kitchen knife was recovered. The suspect remains in custody while enquiries continue. ________________________________________ 🛡️ Safeguarding PCs Fabian, Merryn, and Jess assisted in safely locating and returning a high-risk missing young person. Officers prioritised their welfare while also addressing associated concerns within the city centre. ________________________________________ 🌿 Cannabis Grow Seizure PC Merryn, PC Callum, and PCSO Phil supported colleagues in dismantling a cannabis grow which was discovered by police on a neighbouring beat. All plants and related equipment were safely removed and destroyed, disrupting illegal activity and helping protect the local community. ________________________________________ 🤝 Partnership Working PC Fabian attended a meeting at Force Headquarters with representatives from the Leicester Royal Infirmary (LRI), where information sharing was discussed to better safeguard patients and visitors. A plan has also been developed to address concerns regarding a male regularly attending the hospital committing anti-social behaviour and crime. PC Fabian has also been engaging with local tenants and Platform Housing regarding an individual causing concern on the beat. The individual is currently subject to bail conditions having been arrested last week, and there have been no reported incidents since his arrest. This ongoing work highlights the importance of partnership collaboration in tackling crime and protecting vulnerable people. ________________________________________ 👮 Community Engagement • PCSO Phil conducted reassurance patrols at B&M following recent incidents, speaking with staff and members of the public to provide advice and maintain a visible presence. • PCSO V visited Leicester Tigers as part of the HITZ Education Programme, engaging with students about policing roles, real-life scenarios, and future career pathways. • PCSO V also carried out engagement at De Montfort University (DMU), speaking with staff and members of the public, offering advice and maintaining a reassuring presence. |
