Staffordshire Police would like to make residents aware of a recent spate of vehicle thefts across the county, with a particular focus on Ford Ranger models and other pick-up style vehicles.

These vehicles are being specifically targeted by offenders, often due to their high value and demand. We are asking owners to remain vigilant and take additional steps to protect their vehicles.

🔐 Crime Prevention Advice

To help reduce the risk of your vehicle being targeted, please consider the following measures:

✅ Use Visible Security Devices

Fit a steering wheel lock or similar physical deterrent.

These visible measures can discourage thieves from targeting your vehicle.

✅ Protect Keyless Entry Systems

If your vehicle uses keyless entry, store keys in a Faraday pouch or box when not in use.

This prevents criminals from amplifying the signal from your keys to gain access to your vehicle.

✅ Install Tracking Devices

Consider having a vehicle tracker professionally installed.

Alternatively, discreet devices such as Bluetooth trackers (e.g. AirTag-style devices) can help locate your vehicle if it is stolen.

✅ Review CCTV Coverage

Ensure your property has working CCTV or video doorbells covering driveways or parking areas.

If you already have CCTV, please check it is positioned correctly and recording clearly.

✅ General Security Measures

Park in well-lit, secure areas where possible.

Keep keys well away from doors and windows.

Do not leave valuables or tools visible inside the vehicle.

👀 Have You Seen Anything Suspicious?

We urge residents to report any suspicious activity, including:

Unknown individuals checking vehicles or attempting door handles

Vehicles being loaded onto recovery trucks in unusual circumstances

People loitering around residential driveways at night
