DRUG ARREST | ILFORD LANE |
||
|
On Tuesday 26th May 2026, officers from Ilford Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) were deployed on Ilford Lane as part of pre-planned patrols to support the local community during Eid celebrations. Whilst on patrol, officers received a report from CCTV operators regarding a group of individuals suspected of smoking cannabis. Officers responded promptly and encountered a group of approximately 15 young males. Upon noticing police presence, several individuals attempted to make off, resulting in a foot pursuit. Multiple individuals were detained at the scene. One individual who attempted to flee was found to be in possession of 49 wraps of Class A drugs, along with two mobile phones. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. Following the arrest, officers from Valentines SNT took a leading role, working closely with Ilford Town SNT, Operation Orochi, and the Drugs Focus Desk to build a strong evidential case. This included the recovery and detailed analysis of mobile phone data. As a result of this collaborative effort, a Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) charging decision was secured, and the male has been remanded in custody. This outcome highlights Valentines SNT’s continued proactive approach in tackling drug-related crime and protecting the local community. We remain committed to keeping our neighbourhoods safe.
