Counterfeit Goods

Dear all,

Please be aware that there have been recent incidents involving individuals attempting to sell counterfeit perfumes, aftershaves, and mobile phones in our town centres.

On 11/06/2026 in Altrincham Town Centre, a male was stopped in possession of such items. Counterfeit perfumes, aftershaves, and mobile phones pose serious health, safety, financial, and security risks.

Fake fragrances are not simply low‑cost alternatives; they can contain toxic or unsanitary substances that may cause skin irritation, allergic reactions, or other health issues. Counterfeit mobile phones present even greater risks, including compromised security, unsafe batteries, and both have potential links to organised criminal activity.

If the circumstances seem unusual or the price appears too good to be true, please refuse to buy the item and report the matter to Trading Standards/ Police.
