Open Water Swimming in Warm Weather |
||
|
All,
With the possible return of warmer weather into the weekend and over the next few weeks, some of us may wish to go swimming in open waterways such as rivers and lakes.
As you may have seen nationally during the heatwave in May, many persons have lost their lives in open water during this period and wish to raise awareness.
Within Torfaen we have many waterways which may look tempting to swim in during warm periods, but there are many dangers such as underwater currents, underwater objects etc that can cause serious harm or death. This is even if you are a strong swimmer.
Please bear this in mind when out and parents, can you remind your children of the risks of open water swimming.
As always, if you become aware of anyone struggling, call emergency services on 999. | ||
