It's been another busy week for PCSO Dom in #SouthWigston:
-Starting with a trip to Crown Court to assist a colleague. Not something I would generally do but it's very useful to know how teh courts operate given I could be called up for any incident I have attended. -Liaising with another force to ensure an offence on their area is properly looked into. A victim approached us from another area to report a serious offence, we took the report and provided appropriate safeguarding, transferring the incident to the relevant force area.
-Foot patrols around South Wigston train station following reports of illegal motorcycles in the area. Residents have addressed concerns about illegal motorcycles using the train bridge as a cut through. This is a serious safety concern and any bike found will be seized on the spot. Despite how dangerous and difficult it is to stop them patrols will continue, and please keep reporting to us for intelligence purposes.
-Celebrated my birthday with a day of training and administration - thrilling (very important though). Turning 32 at work marks my 3rd consecutive birthday at work in South Wigston and I woulnd't have it any otehr way!
-CCTV and statements obtained for several theft offences (suspects now identified, custody awaits). We have identified several shoplifters in recent weeks and are now looking to locate and arrest them. Huge praise must go out to shop staff in South Wigston who are always incredibly resilient and helpful!
-Joint meetings with a housing authority to tackle ongoing issues at a premises. Another problem address is emerging and causing significant issues to those who live nearby -rest assured we are working to put a stop to this as soon as possible!
-Had a run-in a suspected shoplifter who luckily wasn't one... unluckily for him though, the 'herbs' he was carrying were of interest to us (perhaps why he ran in the first place). Drug dealing is a big concern in the area and something we do not take lightly given the risks to innocent people who get caught up in criminality
-Speed checks in several locations across Wigston and South Wigston - thankfully no tickets issued. Fortunately our presence slows pwoplw down, unfortunately people do not learn and continue to speed regardless. It is illegal, it is dangerous and it is inconsiderate - I make no apologies for reporting speeding drivers for their offences.
-Patrolled hotspots linked to antisocial driving to deter dangerous behaviour (one Section 59 warning issued, several intelligence reports logged). We have been made aware of ‘Car Cruising’ in supermarket car parks in the evenings and have increased our presence to deter danegrous behaviour. If you have any videos of inconsiderate driving please report them to us. (Please do meet with your friends and enjoy your cars legally and responsibly – just don’t drive dangerously or antisocially or you’ll lose your car very quickly)
Into rest days now but back in a few days for another 7 shifts - response colleagues will hold down the fort in the meantime
