🚨 OP Hurricane - Tackling illegal riding 🚨 |
||
|
Good afternoon residents,
Greater Manchester Police has launched Op Hurricane which is a coordinated response to the anti-social use of off-road bikes, e-bikes and e-scooters.
Did you know, E-scooters are classed as motor vehicles under the Road Traffic Act 1988. This means the rules that apply to motor vehicles, also apply to e-scooters including the need to have a licence and insurance.
The misuse of these vehicles cause disruption, intimidation and nuisance within the community, affecting quality of life and posing a serious risk to the public. In some cases this behaviour has resulted in serious injuries and fatal collisions. These vehicles are often used illegally in public spaces, parks and on roads.
⚠️Know the law:
Officers from the Roads Policing Unit, Drone and Motorcycle unit and National Police Air Service will join neighbourhood teams to tackle this ongoing issue. If you see a vehicle being used illegally or involved in ASB please report it: 📞 101 or online (non-emergency) or GMP live chat
Your information helps us to target the right area and take action creating a safer community for you.
Thank you | ||
