Drug Den on HORNSEY? Ended

I wanted to provide an update regarding drug dealing / drug use, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

Recently, PC KARIM, with support from officers in the neighbouring ward on HILLRISE Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) successfully dealt with a drug den on HORNSEY ROAD. After being made aware of this address by residents, officers upon investigating found that the empty flat had been taken over by drug users, who were squatting in the address. This was contributing to a huge amount of drugs criminality and ASB in the area, and was causing a significant safety risk to nearby residents.

Officers proceeded to remove all of the squatters from the address, which was immediately sealed with secure metal grates to prevent any breaking into the property. Reports for drugs criminality and ASB have since plummeted.

In other news PC CARRINGTON and PC KARIM have recently both completed a Level 2 Covert Human Intelligence Source Handler course, which will significantly improve their ability to gain intelligence on the ward, aiding them in developing search warrants, closure orders (typically used to close down crack houses and drug dens) and other proactive police operations.
