PCSO MONTHLY WARD UPDATE
Welcome to your monthly Hangleton & Knoll Ward update by Beat PCSO Sharon Baker for the month of May.
Ward Priorities Speeding Vehicles, Electric Bikes, Anti-Social Behaviour
Ward Update The ward priorities stay the same this month, with speeding vehicles in the 20mph speed limit still a problem, electric bikes especially those modified or requiring no pedalling and anti social behaviour by youths in our local supermarkets. Speeding vehicles remain a risk to drivers and pedestrians, if you witness this happening please submit a report on the Op Crackdown website, with the vehicle registration number. The website can be used to report anti-social driving and abandoned vehicles in Sussex. www.operationcrackdown.org. Police have continued to receive varied reports of youth anti-social-behaviour, these include banging of residents doors, kicking balls at windows, eggs being thrown, setting fires in one of our local parks and also a report of a fire in an alleyway, along with other reports. The fire brigade were called to a fire in one of our local parks, luckily a member of public had spoken to the youths about the dangers of the fire and this was extinguished.
Crime figures for the month of May are down on the same time as last year, apart from criminal damage, which is up, with 1 reported burglary for the month.
Incidents of Note / Any other Business
In our area Police have dealt with a report of dog v’s dog, a confused elderly male, males climbing over a school fence dressed all in black, graffiti sprayed on both vehicles and property, a female living in a van, an encampment, road rage, drug use and shop thefts. Crime Prevention Advice The weather has turned very hot and it is very tempting to leave our windows and doors open, but please remember to close them if you are in the back garden or upstairs, opportunist may be on the prowl for an easy target. Remember not to post your holiday / day out snaps until you return home, do not advertise your property is empty. Also, keep also social media private, use aliases instead of your full name – lets make it harder for criminals to target us. One last reminder – always keep scams at the forefront of your mind. Crime prevention advice can be found on the Sussex Police website on www.sussex.police.uk
Please continue to report any suspicious activity.
