Chiswick and Brentford East update |
||
|
Greetings again and thank you for being part of Met Engage. As always please encourage your neighbours and community groups to sign up.
We are aware that some people have been receiving a lot of messages on Met Engage and someone is looking into this to see if there is an issue with sending settings. In the meantime please check your personal settings to see what preferences you have selected as this may remove unwanted messages.
As we enter the warmer summer months and people enjoy being outdoors in parks and open spaces we do tend to see a rise in VAWG (Violence Against Women and Girls), we have begun targeting offenders already to try and reduce this. As I have previously updated you the male involved in the exposure incident on Strand on the Green following our hard work has been charged and remanded for two counts of exposure, possession of an offensive weapon and assault on Police. He has been denied bail at court and remanded in prison till a further hearing.
Following an incident last year involving a male allegedly grabbing and kissing a young female on Lionel Road North, the person we believed responsible we discovered had a very concerning attitude and behaviour towards lone females. PC Storey worked with our legal department and successfully applied for an extensive Sexual Risk Order which was granted on the male and includes conditions such as not to approach females in public that are not known to him.
Brentford East officers also tracked down and arrested another male for breaching his Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
As well as VAWG we have also still been targeting shoplifters and during a recent plain clothes operation on the High Road detained and arrested two separate shoplifters. One gave us false details which we did not believe and so had a mobile fingerprint device attend and found the male to also be wanted for failing to appear at court for another shoplifting. The second male was one who we have been trying to detain for a few months and we believe is from the Auror retail crime intel system is responsible for thousands of pounds of thefts in Chiswick. We were able to charge him with 3 separate offences of shoplifting and are applying for a Criminal Behaviour Order on him like we have done with other prolific offenders recently.
Separately PC Roach on Brentford East was on patrol in our marked vehicle when he saw a car hit a wingmirror and make off at speed. He conducted an area search for it and found it a short time later with the driver now slumped asleep at the steering wheel. It quickly became apparent that the driver was drunk. He was arrested and taken to custody where not only did he blow 99 (the legal limit is 35) but he was also found to be disqualified from driving. He was charged for both as well as having no insurance and his car was seized. The male will be attending court later this month.
We are heading into the busiest time of the year for most crime types and will be conducting more proactive operations. Please continue to report suspicious activity to us when you see it.
Many thanks
