Blackheath Westcombe Community Update – A Busy Week on the Ward!

It’s been another proactive and positive week for the team, with a range of activities focused on keeping our community safe, informed, and engaged.

Tackling Safety Head-On
We carried out targeted weapon sweeps across key areas of the ward, working to remove potential dangers and make our streets safer for everyone. These proactive efforts are an important part of preventing harm before it happens.

High-Visibility Bus Patrols
PC Gulen and PCSO Jones were out and about on bus patrols across the ward, providing reassurance to passengers and ensuring a visible presence on public transport routes. It’s all about keeping journeys safe and comfortable for our community.

Connecting on the Streets
We hosted a street briefing, giving residents the chance to hear about local issues, ask questions, and stay informed. These conversations are vital in strengthening relationships and working together to tackle concerns.

 Engaging with Young People
We also visited a local school this week, delivering an informative and engaging talk to students. It was a fantastic opportunity to educate, inspire, and build positive connections with young people in our area.

Safeguarding Action – Protecting Our Community

This week, PC Gulen and PCSO Jones has taken safeguarding action in relation to suspected county lines activity.

Following concerns identified during our patrols and engagement, a safeguarding referral was submitted to ensure that the individuals involved receive the appropriate support and protection. County lines exploitation often targets vulnerable people, and early intervention is key in preventing further harm.
