Message From Inspector 1144 Head |

Good morning everyone,
Many of you will have seen recent national news reports about tragic incidents in which children and young people have lost their lives in open water. Unfortunately, one such incident occurred in Lincoln.
West Lindsey has a number of rivers, ponds, and lakes. While it may be tempting to swim in these locations, they pose significant risks. Open water can contain strong undercurrents, hidden hazards, and submerged debris, all of which can lead to serious injury or worse. I strongly urge residents to avoid swimming in these environments and instead use designated leisure facilities that are properly managed and supervised by lifeguards.
I’m pleased to share that police and partner agencies have secured Home Office funding for diversionary activities in Gainsborough. Further details will be released shortly.
Gainsborough is also benefiting from a Community Alcohol Partnership (CAP), which became operational in late 2025. If you would like to learn more, please visit:
If the CAP proves successful, we will look to explore similar initiatives in other parts of West Lindsey.
Additionally, Gainsborough has received ‘Pride in Place’ funding, which will see £2 million invested annually for the next 10 years. This long-term funding supports a community-led regeneration plan. I encourage all residents to complete the Pride in Place survey to have their say: Pride in Place
You will also be pleased to hear that the additional PCSOs are scheduled to begin patrolling their allocated areas from 18 June, which I am sure will be welcomed by the community.
