Is your vehicle secure?

Cars with keyless entry unlock automatically when the key comes within a short-range of the car. “Relay theft” occurs when a device is used to trick the car into thinking the key is nearby, unlocking the car and allowing the ignition to start

When at home keep your car key (and the spare) well away from the car.

Put the keys in a screened or signal blocking pouch, such as a Faraday Bag and check if the bag or pouch is still working every few months.

Reprogramme your keys if you buy a second hand car.

Turn off wireless signals on your fob when it’s not being used.

If parking away from home, manually check that your car is locked by checking the handle or watching the wing mirrors fold in if it can.

Always scan the area for suspicious behaviour and if you are unsure do not leave your car and call 101.

Place a steering lock or install a tracker that can activate once a vehicle is stolen.
