I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Antisocial Behaviour, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. Good Evening all,
If you find the below information helpful, please “rate” this message at the bottom (very quick and simple). Please help us to reach more residents. Tell your neighbours, friends & family about Hampshire Alert - anyone can register - https://www.hampshirealert.co.uk/
I have been dealing with a report and wished to give an update -
The report stated – There was an altercation between staff at a store and a group of around 10 youths - blocking the entrance and refusing to leave. Pushing the wheelchair around. Verbally abusive towards staff. 2 members of the group regularly come in on electric scooters and cause issues with customers. Initially graded on a 1 due to a 999 report from a customer and ongoing disturbance between the staff and group of males – call taker could hear shouting and group were still on scene.
No one wished to make a formal complaint, so this is being dealt with as antisocial behaviour. I have managed to identify 4 young males involved.
• 1 parent has been spoken to on the phone and made aware of the above. Her son had already gone back and apologised to staff for being in the group and had not been verbal himself. • 2 young men have come into the station with their parents to discuss their behaviour and for me to explain the potential consequences of ASB and criminal behaviour. • I am still awaiting contact from one parent.
Below is an email reply I have anonymised from the parent I spoke to over then phone.
‘Mica, Thank you for your phone call and for sending me this image. I can confirm this is my son. He and I have spoken at length about this incident, and he has been open about discussing it. It seems like he was with friends of friends which is why I did not know the other children’s names. It sounded like the group had been out for a while and he joined up with them when he went out in the evening. He says he was indeed present and aware of events but was not involved in the verbal behaviours which happened. He acknowledges that by being in the group whilst the events unfolded that he was involved though. The phone call from you and the investigation has been a wake-up call and has enabled us to discuss the impact of who he is out with. Thank you again for the information you shared. If you need anything else from me, please do let me know!’
We do not always have positive interactions with parents, so it is lovely to have this positive feedback.

Tackling anti-social behaviour can be a complex issue, and one which requires input and action from more than just the police. The Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 aims to put victims first, giving power to local people and enabling professionals to find the best solutions for their local area. The act provides the police, local authorities and other local agencies with flexible tools and powers that they can use to respond quickly and effectively to antisocial behaviour. These include: civil injunctions. criminal behaviour orders. public spaces protection orders. community protection notices. dispersal powers. closure powers.
The act also includes measures such as the Community Remedy and anti-social behaviour case reviews which empower victims and communities to have a say in the outcome of their reports and hold agencies to account. If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at www.hampshire.police.uk, or call the non-emergency number 101. Alternatively, you can stay 100 per cent anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org.
