Good afternoon, everyone,
We hope you are enjoying your weekend—thankfully it’s a little cooler for some!
It’s been another busy couple of weeks for the team. Our officers have been tackling shoplifting offences, resulting in several arrests and court summons. We’ll share updates when available.
We’ve delivered doorstep crime awareness talks and attended the Garrison Health Fair, where we had the opportunity to engage with members of the armed forces and great networking with our partners.
We’ve also visited local schools to talk about knife crime and anti-social behaviour (ASB), including concerns around young people using catapults in local parks. Parents are encouraged to be aware of this and ensure items such as catapults are used safely and responsibly.
We were pleased to host the Beavers at the station for an educational visit—and a look inside one of our police vans!
The annual Gurkha Cup on 24 May was a fantastic event, welcoming around 9,000 attendees. Despite the hot weather, the event was a vibrant and successful celebration of football and Nepalese culture. The team maintained a strong and visible presence throughout the day, engaging with the community and ensuring the safety of all those in attendance. This extended into the evening, with officers also deployed across Aldershot Town Centre to support the night-time economy, where many continued to enjoy the festivities. We are pleased to report that the event passed without incident, with all attendees able to enjoy the day and evening safely.
We’ve also been responding to an increase in motorcycle thefts. Thanks to local community support, particularly through the sharing of information and images on social media—helping to make these stolen vehicles “too hot to handle”. In light of this trend, we strongly encourage all residents to take proactive steps to safeguard their vehicles and valuables. Officers have been carrying out patrols in ASB hotspot areas, including local parks and the town centre. It was great to meet residents and volunteers at Brickfields Park and see the community’s commitment to keeping it safe and welcoming.
We have conducted cycle and foot patrols through our parks. As you can see from the photo, it did make us chuckle seeing the baby swans getting a lift off Mum!!!
Finally, we would like to make residents aware of an increase in ASB in the town centre, including reports of young people behaving disrespectfully in shops and the Wellington Centre.
Thank you for your continued support.
Aldershot NPT
