At around 2130 on Wednesday 27th May there a violent incident at the top of Vauxhall Bridge Road between two males, one of them, a well-known member of the local street population.

As a result of the altercation this male was stabbed with the broken shaft of a golf club. Police attended and provided first aid before the victim was taken to St Mary’s Hospital. He is expected to make a full recovery. The weapon was recovered from a nearby drain.

As a result of the quick retrieval of CCTV images and the timely collection of crucial intelligence by your local ward team, a suspect was arrested on 30th May at an address in Wandsworth.

He was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in relation to the stabbing incident but also for Possession With Intent To Supply, as a significant quantity of Class A drugs was found at the address. He has been remanded in custody for a series of previous offences.

This episode highlights the continuing challenges we face in our area but it also shows our determination, and an ability to work swiftly in close coordination with colleagues from different units to bring those responsible to justice.
