Westcotes Beat Update – Keeping Our Community Safe
Your local neighbourhood policing team has been carrying out a range of proactive activity across the Westcotes Beat area over the past week, targeting crime, tackling anti-social behaviour, and engaging with residents.
Nitrous Oxide Canisters Seized Officers seized over 100 nitrous oxide canisters enforcement activity across the beat. Nitrous oxide misuse continues to generate concerns from residents due to the associated anti-social behaviour, littering, and potential risks to public safety.
High-Visibility Patrols in Bede Park The team has maintained a strong presence in Bede Park, carrying out regular foot patrols and engaging with park users, residents, and local businesses. These patrols aim to deter anti-social behaviour, provide reassurance, and gather information about issues affecting the local community. Officers have spoken with numerous members of the public and will continue to patrol the area at key times.
Warrant Activity Results in Arrests As part of ongoing investigations, officers executed warrants linked to suspected criminal activity within the beat area. This proactive work resulted in arrests being made, demonstrating our commitment to pursuing offenders and keeping Westcotes a safe place to live, work, and visit.
Cannabis Grow Discovered Officers located a cannabis cultivation site within the Westcotes area. The grow was dismantled and cannabis plants were recovered. Cannabis cultivation is often linked to organised criminality, and removing these operations helps protect the wider community.
Bike Register Officers hosted a successful bike registration event on the beat, giving cyclists the opportunity to register their bicycles and receive crime prevention advice. Bike registration helps improve the chances of stolen cycles being recovered and returned to their owners. Thank you to everyone who attended and supported the event.
Class A Drugs Seized Following Detention Officers detained an individual during proactive patrol activity after suspicious behaviour was observed. A subsequent search resulted in the discovery of Class A drugs, which were seized. The individual was dealt with accordingly. Removing illegal drugs from our streets remains a key priority for the neighbourhood team.
Working Together We would like to thank residents for their continued support and the information they provide. Community intelligence plays a vital role in helping us identify issues and take action where it is needed most.
If you have concerns about crime, anti-social behaviour, or suspicious activity in your area, please report it via the appropriate channels. Your information can help us take action and keep Westcotes safe.
