🚨 RURAL CRIME APPEALS – ILKESTON AREA 🚨 

 We are appealing for information following two separate incidents involving cygnets on the Erewash Canal, Ilkeston. 

🔎 APPEAL 1 – CRUELTY INCIDENT (Ref: 26*288917) 

A cygnet was subjected to cruelty on 19/05/2026 near Ilkeston Football Ground. 

A video was shared online to an Ilkeston Spotted page but has since been removed. 

We are keen to hear from anyone who may still have access to this video! It is believed that the Cygnet was taken into care by a member of the public.

🔎 APPEAL 2 – INJURED CYGNET FOUND (Ref: 26*302217) 

A cygnet was found deceased with injuries at Barker’s Lock on 25/05/2026. 

It is unknown at this time when the Cygnet suffered it's injuries and died. 

➡️ Did you see an injured cygnet? 

➡️ Do you know how it was injured? 

➡️ Do you have CCTV, dashcam, or phone footage?
