Good morning,

On Thursday 28th May 2026, at 22:03hrs“NPT and response officers were called to Northallerton Railway Station to reports of a heavily intoxicated male. The male climbed down onto the tracks and was laid on the East Coast mainline, narrowly missing an oncoming train. Members of the public intervened whereby two good Samaritans have themselves in harm’s way both around the network and dealing with a vulnerable and unpredictable person. They successfully extricated this male from the network prior to Police arrival and definitely prevented a tragedy this evening. 

The male was subsequently arrested and safeguarded.
