With temperatures remaining incredibly high, we would like to remind everyone to take extra care and look after themselves, family members, neighbours and those who may be more vulnerable during this period of hot weather. Please take simple steps to stay safe and well: Keep hydrated - drink plenty of water regularly throughout the day, even if you do not feel thirsty. Avoid excess alcohol and caffeine where possible, as these can contribute to dehydration.Stay cool - remain in shaded or cooler areas where possible, close curtains or blinds during the hottest part of the day, and avoid strenuous activity in peak heat.Dress appropriately - wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing and use sunscreen to help protect against sun exposure.Look out for others - check in on elderly relatives, neighbours, young children, and anyone who may be vulnerable or living alone.Never leave children or animals in vehicles - temperatures inside cars can rise dangerously within minutes.Know the signs of heat relates illness - dizziness, headaches, confusion, nausea, extreme tiredness, or fainting can be signs of heat exhaustion or dehydration. Seek medical advice if symptoms worsen or do not improve. We encourage everyone to plan ahead, stay hydrated and take sensible precautions to keep themselves safe during the hot weather. Please continue to look out for one another and contact emergency services if someone is in immediate danger. Thank you for helping keep our communities safe |
