Staying safe around water in the hot weather |

Staying safe in Hounslow as the hot weather continues…
We hope you are all enjoying the heatwave but we wanted to share some key pieces of advice on staying safe:
Water safety: During periods of hot weather, please stay away from open water. It might be tempting, but it's not safe. Even in a heatwave the water in lakes and rivers can be dangerously cold, so even strong swimmers can get into trouble. Stay cool and safe indoors or in designated swimming spots. https://nfcc.org.uk/our-services/campaigns/be-water-aware/
Fire risks: It only takes a few days of hot weather to increase the risk of fires in our parks. A small spark can ignite grass, shrubs, or litter and any fire can quickly get out of control. Please remember: Do not have barbecues, including disposable barbecues, in open spaces or on balconies - throw rubbish away properly - dispose of cigarettes and matches carefully. https://bit.ly/4wZmk0y
Looking after each other: Warm weather can impact vulnerable groups, including older people and those with underlying health conditions. Please take care to protect yourself and others from the risks of extreme weather. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/beat-the-heat-hot-weather-advice/beat-the-heat-staying-safe-in-hot-weather | ||
