Good afternoon Resident How are you enjoying the lovely weather? It looks set to stay nice and sunny over the weekend so as well as remembering the sunscreen can I remind you of a few crime prevention tips for around your home: lock doors and windows, when nipping out it's easy to think it will be okay but it only takes a few seconds for someone to climb through an open window or try your insecure door handle. If you must leave windows open for airflow, only do so in rooms you are occupying or consider using/fitting locks & restrictors to limit opening widths.Make sure the front of your property is all secure if you are gardening at the rear and vice versa, the noise of gardening equipment will stop you hearing any unwanted activity. Clear away & secure equipment straight after use, if you get distracted it only takes seconds for someone to walk off with your items.Lock Sheds and Gates: Side gates and garden outbuildings are prime targets. Always secure them with heavy-duty padlocks.Keep Valuables Hidden: Open windows and doors offer opportunistic thieves an easy line of sight. Always keep laptops, keys, and wallets out of view from open entryways.Don't allow your wheelie bins, recycling containers, and garden furniture become convenient steps for climbing over fences or reaching upper-floor windows. We all want to enjoy the fine weather without becoming a target for crime. Stay safe and well PCSO Vicki
