Male arrested after a short chase in the street

Yesterday (Tuesday) at about 9pm if you were in the area of the junctions of Battersea Park Road with Thessaly Road and Savona Street you would have seen several Police cars in the street, and a Police dog handler with his dog searching in gardens.

Police officers in an un-marked car waiting at the traffic lights had noticed the rider of moped paying attention to them. The moped rider then sped off in the cycle lane on Thessaly Road and across the pavement into Savona Street where he found that it was a dead end and he couldn’t go any further.

The Police car had pursued the moped and now the officers inside the car gave chase on foot. The moped rider threw a package over a fence. But this was seen by some residents who, after the man was caught and arrested, pointed this out to the Police. And the dog was put in the garden to sniff out the package.

When it was retrieved it was found to contain wraps of suspected class A drugs.

The 18-year old man from North Kensington who was arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs and driving offences including failing to stop, dangerous driving and driving without a licence has now been bailed to return to the Police Station in late July.
