Open water dangers |
||
|
Good afternoon,
We have received reports of young people swimming and congregating in the area of Delph Reservoir, near Egerton.
We would like to remind families about the danger of any open waters. Rivers, lakes, canals, reservoirs and ponds may look safe and inviting during hot weather, but cold temperatures , hidden currents, deep water and slippery edges can quickly become dangerous.
Please speak to your children about water safety including: Avoiding jumping and swimming in unknown waters Staying away from the edges of rivers, canals and lakes Calling 999 and asking for the Fire Service or Coastguard in an emergency, do not enter the water to try and save a person Telling an adult immediately if someone is in trouble in water.
We would encourage all children to enjoy the outdoors safely and make sensible choices around water.
Thank you for your support in helping keep our communities safe.
