With the warm weather continuing, please remember to keep your home secure when you go out.

It can be tempting to leave windows and doors open to keep your home cool, but this can make your property an easy target for opportunistic thieves.

Please follow this advice:

Always close and secure all windows and doors before leaving your home

Do not leave accessible windows open, even on upper floors

Lock doors fully, even if you’re only out for a short time

To keep your home cooler without increasing risk:

Close curtains or blinds, especially on sun-facing windows

Open windows only when you are at home and able to monitor them

Consider ventilating your home early morning or late evening when temperatures are lower

Taking these simple steps can help prevent crime and keep your home safe.
