Greater Manchester Police – Community Update (South Trafford): Rogue Gardeners and Tree-Loppers. |
||
|
Good afternoon, We hope you’re all enjoying the current spell of warm weather and making the most of the sunshine across Trafford. We want to make residents aware that we have received reports of rogue gardening and tree-lopping traders operating in the south of the borough. These individuals are approaching properties and offering to carry out work, often presenting it as a low-cost, cash-in-hand arrangement. In many cases, once the work has been started or completed, they then attempt to charge significantly higher amounts than initially agreed, particularly for the removal of waste. Some residents have reported feeling pressured into paying these inflated costs. We would encourage anyone considering this type of work to use reputable, locally accredited businesses and to ensure that quotes are agreed in advance and in writing where possible. Be cautious of anyone offering unsolicited services at your door, especially where payment is requested in cash only. If you are approached and feel uncomfortable, pressured, or threatened, please trust your instincts. If you feel at risk or in immediate danger, call 999. For non-emergency concerns, incidents can be reported via 101. You can also contact Trading Standards through the Citizens Advice Consumer Service for further advice. Thank you for your continued support.
