Local Priorities Drug dealing/ drug use Message |
||
|
I wanted to provide an update regarding drug dealing / drug use, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.
This afternoon, officers issued two people with Community Protection Warning (CPW) letters due to drug activity in the Sedgehill area. This was for congregating in communal areas of properties where the people were not resident, and they have been seen smoking drugs and had drug paraphernalia on them. Officers from the Lewisham emergency response team had also stopped and searched these two people recently for drug-related activity. The CPWs are the first step of tackling drug-related anti-social behaviour in the area, and if their behaviour continues then they can be issued with Community Protection Notices which can result in arrest and convictions. Your local team are dedicated to tackling the drug-related issues in the area, and these warnings act as the first step to try and prevent them recurring (alongside relevant drug support referrals). If you do witness drug-related activity, then please do not hesitate to send us a message with your concerns as we can build evidence to tackle them, be it through official warnings/notices, search warrants, closure orders, or working with local housing to design out crime. We are committed to tackling drug dealing wherever we find it. We will keep you updated on our efforts to do this in your area, but if you have any concerns or evidence, it is important you report this as soon as possible.
If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at https://www.met.police.uk/, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101.
Alternatively, you can stay 100% anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org.
We are working on our brand-new strategy for how we police London and we want your help. Our New Met for London: Phase 2 strategy will guide how we deliver on behalf of Londoners over the next three years. | ||
