We’ve just enjoyed one of the hottest bank holidays of the year, with temperatures soaring above 30°C — and the sunshine is set to continue into half term! 

While it’s the perfect time for BBQs, seaside trips, park walks, and making memories with family and friends, we’d like to share some important advice to help keep everyone safe.

Swimming in rivers, canals, lakes, or reservoirs might look refreshing — but it can be extremely dangerous.

With warmer days, our routines change — open windows, time spent outdoors, and items left in gardens can create opportunities for thieves.

Simple steps to protect your property: 

🔐 Always lock doors and windows when not in use
🪟 Keep open windows secure and out of easy reach
🚲 Don’t leave valuables (bikes, tools, keys) on display
💡 Fit good locks and consider motion lighting
👀 Report suspicious activity via 101 or Crimestoppers (0800 555 111)
🚨 In an emergency, always call 999

🐶 Dogs & Hot Cars

Even on mild days, cars can become dangerously hot — putting pets at serious risk.

Please remember: 

🚫 Never leave dogs in parked vehicles
🧊 Know the signs of heatstroke
🚶‍♂️ Avoid walking dogs in extreme heat
