Theft of Motor Vehicle Park Avenue and attempted theft

Dear Resident

Between 11pm on Sunday 24th and 1:30am on Monday 25th of May a vehicle was stolen on Park Avenue. The grey Nissan Juke was parked on the road approximately halfway down Park Avenue.

If you have any information relating to this crime you can click the reply button at the bottom of the email, or by contacting the police on the non-emergency number 101, quoting crime number 41/48214/26.

There was also an attempted theft of another Nissan Juke further up the Avenue towards Southgate Road around the same time. Crime ref 41/481226/26.

Tips to prevent vehicle crime:

Ensure you lock doors and shut windows/sunroof when leaving your vehicle unattended.

Always remove keys from the ignition when you are not with the vehicle

When parking, remember to set your immobiliser or alarm or use an approved steering lock or gear lever clamp.

Never leave valuables in your vehicle – not even in the glove box or boot – and keep all possessions out of sight – even coats, sunglasses and carrier bags.

Be aware of your keys. Don’t leave them visible on a windowsill or near to your front door, where they could be “hooked” through the letterbox or a keyless signal can be received by relay devices.

If you have a keyless entry car use a signal blocking bag and consider using additional trackers, steering wheel locks or ghost immobilisers.

Store car ownership documents at home, not in your car.
