With the warmer weather here, we often see an increase in opportunistic crime as people enjoy the sunshine and leave doors and windows open.

To help keep your home secure, please consider the following simple steps:

Home security tips:

✅ Keep doors locked, even when you are at home

✅ Avoid leaving windows open in empty rooms or overnight, especially on ground floors

✅ Ensure side gates, sheds, and garages are secure

✅ Remove valuables from view of windows and doors

✅ Consider using window restrictors for ventilation without compromising security

When out enjoying the weather:

🚪 Make sure all doors and windows are closed and locked before leaving

📦 Avoid leaving deliveries or parcels visible outside your property

💡 Use timer switches for lights if you’re out in the evening

Neighbourhood safety:

👀 Look out for your neighbours and report any suspicious activity

🗣️ Let a trusted neighbour know if you are away for longer periods
